Encuentro Internacional de Cartografia Ciudadana

Los mapas son herramientas imprescindibles para transformar la realidad. En los últimos años Internet y las tecnologías de la información han tenido un enorme impacto en la cartografía. Gracias a los nuevos métodos digitales de representación y redes de intercambio colaborativo los ciudadanos construyen sus representaciones de la realidad respecto a diversas fuentes de información e intereses.

El Encuentro Internacional de Cartografía Ciudadana reunirá en Gijón a un amplio grupo de investigadores y activistas de diferentes ámbitos: arquitectura, periodismo, antoprología, urbanismo, arte, geografía, biología, psicología, trabajo social y desarrollo de software.

De esta manera nos proponemos afirmar y tejer red, combinar esfuerzos y recursos para el desarrollo de un proyecto convergente de software libre de cartografía ciudadana.

The main goals of the meeting are:

- To share experiences and knowledge resources (from software to methodologies).
- To produce a video archive of relevant activist cartography projects.
The meeting will consist on presentations and open worskhop sessions. There will be an specific focus on two different territories: Asturias, where Gijon is, an industrial region that was hardly hit by the globalization relocation of the industrial production, and now is trying to develop a new economy (http://mapeandoasturias.info) and Palestine, as one of the places in the world where the spatial dimension of contemporary conflicts are more patent.

- software, what mappings tools do we need? scope of current ones and development plans for the future, this agenda will be planned trough the wiki of the project.
